If your pet needs a surgical procedure - don’t worry! We will discuss everything
with you to make sure you understand exactly what will happen.
We understand that leaving your pet with us for an operation can be stressful and
upsetting. We all have pets of our own, and know how it feels! We will do everything
we can to make sure your pet has a happy and comfortable stay with us. Most surgical
patients are admitted as day patients and can go home the same day.
Routine surgical procedures are booked during the week Monday to Friday. Urgent cases
take priority and will be scheduled as soon as possible, usually the same day.
Pets are admitted in the morning between 8.30am and 9.00am. It is best if the owner
can attend, however, if someone else is bringing the pet, please make sure they are
familiar with them and can answer questions about their recent feeding, toiletting
and general health if required. A contact telephone number for the owner is essential.
For their safety, cats and rabbits should be brought to the practice in a secure
carrier, one carrier per pet. Dogs should have a secure collar or harness and lead.
We will advise you roughly when to expect to pick up your pet, and a more accurate
time will be given during a follow-up telephone call during the day.
Please allow around 20mins to collect your pet as we will need to give you important
information about looking after them, as well as explain any medications or exercise
If you have any questions or concerns please ask us - we are happy to help.
